Millie - Bali 2018

Hello everyone
I am Millie and I am in Grade 12 and will be graduating in 2018. During the summer I will be living my dream in Bali thanks to James Rao's family and the Live Your Dream Foundation.
The organisation I will be going with are Plan My Gap Year. They work with local communities around the world towards making a long-term difference. The reason that I have chosen Plan My Gap Year is because it is an organisation who are both friendly and helpful. They helped me when I was trying to figure out which project I wanted to do, and they also had very good reviews of their Bali project.
I chose this project in particular as I have always wanted to work with children. Teaching children who are underprivileged will be an unforgettable experience and to see how other children learn will be very rewarding. Working with children requires a lot of patience and creativity so this will give me an opportunity to show my skills and give them something that will last.
I will be arriving in Bali on the 17th of June 2018 and staying in a place called Tabanan for two weeks. This town is located in the southern part of Bali, Indonesia. I chose Bali as it has been a place where I have always wanted to go to see what it is like to be a part of its vibrant culture, to meet so many fantastic people but I also want to try to make a difference there especially for the children who struggle to get an education.
Whilst I am there I will be teaching English to kindergarten students (age 4-6 years) in the morning and then in the afternoon I will be helping at an after school club with children from all ages. Here I will hope to have the most amazing time having that interaction with the children and enjoy the experience of being able to teach the students many useful skills.
I have always wanted to travel the world and volunteer and this project will hopefully be the start of my future adventures. I am nervous but also very excited to experience so many new things. This is a big test for me but I want to prove to myself that I can overcome my fears of doing things alone!
It will be once in a lifetime experience and I am so grateful for this opportunity!
