Thinking About Your Application
Dear IST community
Thank you for showing an interest in applying to the ‘James Rao – Live Your Dream’ Foundation. By now you will know more about the fund and should have taken it upon yourself to find out more about James Rao, a former student of the IST and previous winner of the ‘Outstanding Contribution to IST’ award. If you haven’t already done so, please click here to be taken to the ‘About James’ section of the website to find out how this incredible opportunity has been made available to you as well as its aim of keeping the memory of James alive in 2022 and far beyond.
The opportunities presented to you within this application represent something that is unprecedented in a school community and is only possible due to the amazing and heartfelt generosity of the Rao family in memory of James who was one of life’s true adventurers and who lived his dream in his short but very action packed life.
James Rao’s Live Your Dream Foundation provides you with the opportunity of funding your own life changing adventure; to travel anywhere in the world; to live your dream and to make a real and sustained difference to a diverse range of communities and environments. James did exactly this on an IST trip to Mumbai, India in 2010 when he worked in an orphanage and local school with other students and staff, to positively affect the lives of children in a city very close to his heart. You can read more about that trip here and the continuing good work in his name on this page.
This application pack will guide you through the process, from the initial idea to the successful undertaking of your adventure and expectations upon your return. There are very limited places every year and you application has to be extremely well planned and researched if you are to benefit from the unconditional funding offered by the Foundation.
Please remember, this is not a school trip and you will be probably undertaking your adventure independently and without teachers there with you. It is your responsibility to organise and present us with your proposal so that we can verify that it is safe and matches the spirit of the James’s Foundation.
